In the center of this city it’s possible to do a tour, knowing the Cathedral, the University Cultural Center, the Merced Temple, The Municipal Palace and the Justice’s Palace. While for those nature lovers, the Morelos National Park is a great place to spend the whole day.
Another good place to go and visit also, around it is “Boca de Apiza”, this is where the Coahuayana Rivers flow, and it’s also use as a natural limit between the Michoacan and Colima states.

The cathedral

When you start to walk trough Morelia, this is where you should start; it was built with pink volcano stones and became in the most important attractions in this place. You will notice mix of styles since baroque to plateresque and mannerist. The Italian architect who designed it worked closely with the authorities Morelia’s religious community and as you will see he did a wonderful job.

The Back alley of Romance

This is a gorgeous place to visit with your date, it’s an amazing place. It’s just a narrow alley with houses from the Viceroyalty times; though it’s one of the most romantic places in Morelia, because the way it has been built and for some inscriptions that are along the alley, these inscriptions are part of Romance written by Lucas Ortiz.

University’s Cultural Center

This center is pretty new, it’s a modern building with an incredible structure that provides space for different exhibitions that any university or any cultural group can offer. It results to be the better way to stimulate between the high school and university students, arts and cultural activities.

It counts with two big exposition rooms where exhibited books, oils, documents are, etc all related to important characters of this town history.

Clavijero’s Palace

It is right next to the tourist office and very close to the Cathedral. The most peculiar characteristic of this Palace is that it has a pink stone patio.

The Clavijero’s Palace used to be school, warehouse and prison before the government took it for their offices.

Morelia’s Museums

Morelia is a place with many museums and every tourist should visit some of them, because in this way they can get into this city’s history and social evolution.
The museums are Morelos’s museum house, Museum of the State, Michoacana’s Regional Museum and the Colonial Art’s Museum. All of these displays the archeology and history around Morelia, there is also a very carefully selection of religious oils from the 18th century.

Night Life

There are lots of young people living in this city as any other in Mexico, so the night’s fun is guarantee. Morelia has a big selection of spots that adequate to everybody no matter what are you looking for; you will find it and enjoy it.

There are many night clubs and bars so the options are variety. The clubs are since the modern ones to those who were built with a rare architecture seems to the colonial time, this looks make them a little bit interesting

Shopping

The handicraft Mercado has too many things, very different one from each other. This unique article gives to Morelia a particular style. Most of the stores sells handicrafts and locally made things all of it with a very good quality.

You shouldn’t miss the opportunity to buy some genuine and traditional Mexican souvenir; you are also get fall in love of the many lovely stores that Morelia has, they are modest but really cosy.
